Pediatric Contact Lens Care
Optical solutions for growing children and teenagers

Contact lenses for the little ones
Childrenβs visual health deserves special attention. For some young patients, contact lenses represent an effective and comfortable solution from an early age, especially in cases of specific visual conditions or particular needs related to sports, school, or visual development.
At Ilop Optical Centers, we offer a highly personalized pediatric contact lens program in collaboration with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and orthoptists to ensure maximum safety, comfort, and visual quality.
Pediatric contact lenses may be recommended in cases of:
- High ametropia (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism)
- Anisometropia (significant differences in vision between the two eyes)
- Aphakia (absence of the natural lens)
- Management of ocular conditions such as keratoconus or nystagmus
- Orthokeratology treatments to slow myopia progression
- Sports practice, when glasses are impractical or unsafe

Specialized contact lenses to slow down myopia progression
Myopia is steadily increasing among young people, and early intervention can make a real difference. Contact lenses specifically designed for myopia control are currently one of the most effective solutions to slow down the progression of this visual condition, helping reduce the risk of vision complications in adulthood.

What solutions are available?
Every child has different needs: age, level of cooperation, and the specialist's recommendations help us choose the most suitable visual solution.
- Overnight Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Gas-permeable lenses worn while sleeping: they gently reshape the corneal surface, providing clear vision during the day without glasses or contact lenses, while also helping to slow myopia progression.
- Multifocal soft lenses for myopia control
Worn during the day, they work by creating a controlled peripheral defocus that encourages slower eye growth.
